Art Deco Chameleon Ware pottery for auction on 2nd October

Made by George Clews & Co. in Tunstall England, Chameleon Ware is a type of Art Deco pottery known for its vibrant colours and geometric patterns dating back to 1914.

The bold, hand painted designs were introduced when David Capper returned from the war in the early 1920's. Together with Laura Robinson, exotic, oriental and Egyptian inspired designs were introduced which could have been in response to archaeological discoveries of the time. With unique designs and affordable prices to widen their audience, Chameleon Ware became very successful.
