Wonderful Whitefriars

A Whitefriars glass 'Volcano' vase, from the 'Textured' range, designed by Geoffrey Baxter, pattern number 9717.
To be sold General Sale 24th April

Whitefriars glassworks was first known as James Powell and Sons in the Whitefriars area of London from 1834.  It was a family run firm with James Powell's three sons being involved in the glass making business.  Originally producing stained glass, industrial glass and scientific glass the glassworks began making tableware during the 1860's.

In 1923 the glassworks moved to Middlesex and the heyday of design and production began.  It was Geoffrey Baxter who joined Whitefriars in 1954 and launched the textured glass range from 1967 which saw the appearance of the bark vase, banjo vase and the Drunken Bricklayer vase in many colours and shapes.  The Whitefriars factory closed in 1980.

We are open Monday 15th April through to Wednesday 17th April accepting entries for the next General Sale on 24th April and the Antiques and Interiors Sale on 8th May.

All valuations are free.

All you need to do is book an appointment and bring the items in.

We do everything else - we sort the lots, catalogue the lots, photograph the lots, prepare the online and printed catalogues, advertise the Auctions, open the Saleroom for viewing and sell the lots as successfully as we can to bidders from anywhere across the globe.
