Superb example of anti slavery needlework

 



Lot 260.  (Commemorative Anti-Slavery embroidery) A 19th century anti-slavery needlework pin cushion, depicting a kneeling slave in chains and the wording 'Pity the poor Slave' on the reverse, 7.5cm diameter Provenance: We believe this piece has been handed down through a Methodist Weardale family, with a strong tradition of creativity, dressmaking and needlework.
