| A pair of Hannah Barlow Doulton Lambeth vases for auction 25th October 2023 |
Hannah Bolton Barlow was born in the winter of 1851 in Hertfordshire. Along with her sister Florence Elizabeth Barlow she worked for Doulton and Co. as an artist painting pottery for their newly established art pottery studio in Lambeth, London from 1871.
Florence worked for Doulton between 1873 and 1909. Florence specialised in painting flowers and birds, whilst Hannah concentrated on horses and other animals as can be seen in this pair of vases depicting Donkeys and Cattle.
Hannah worked for Doulton for 42 years and died in 1916. Her sketchbooks can be found in the Sir Henry Doulton Gallery in Stoke on Trent.
