Mr Rodenby was an extensive collector and donated part of his collection to the City of Sunderland several years ago. The principal focus is Sunderland ship owners and their vessels.
The collection is held in Sunderland Local Studies Library, City Library and Arts Centre, Fawcett Street, Sunderland. (It is available to view on request.)
This library is dedicated to the collection of local and family history material covering the North East, with a particular emphasis on Sunderland. Containing over 10,000 books, journals, maps, photographs, newspapers and local records.
Boldon Auction Galleries are delighted to be auctioning the rest of this lifetimes collection on 2nd June. Sunderland has been a place of shipbuilding for several hundred years and this collection highlights the significant Maritime heritage of Sunderland, on the banks of the river Wear in North East England.
