An extensive collection of Ralph Johnson, oil and watercolours for sale in our Antique and Interiors sale Wednesday 11th April

Ralph Johnson (1896 - 1980), was a Landscape painter, in oil and watercolour. He was born in Anfield Plain near to Consett. A builder by trade, Johnson chose to paint in his spare time using both oil and watercolour. In 1930 Johnson started to disuse oil and increasingly concentrated on using watercolour alone. Johnsons works were exhibited for many years at the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle and regularly showed in the Districts Art Society in Durham.  Johnson was vice president of the District Art Society for some time. Johnsons artworks were mainly of Northumberland, the Lake District and Scottish scenery.
