A bird in the hand.........

Beat the January blues with this quirky dish designed by Danish designer Bjørn Wiinblad (1918-2006).

Characteristics of Wiinblad's work include whimsical round-faced people, dressed in vaguely 19th-century costume. Often to be found surrounded by natural elements such as the birds in this piece.

This piece was designed for the Danish pottery Nymølle.  Almost all the output from the pottery for the first 10 years after the second World War was designed by Bjorn Wiinblad.

More designers were employed as he became busier, seeing the pottery have it's most successful productive period during the 1960's.  Nymolle was eventually bought by Bjorn Wiinblad in the 1970's.
To be sold in the next General Household Sale on Wednesday 21st January at 10am.
Lot 5.
