Did you know??
The term Chinoiserie is used to describe a style which reflects Chinese influence through elaborate decoration and intricate patterns? Seen in England from the 17th Century during the Rococo period with paintings by Boucher and furniture made by Chippendale.  The Chinoiserie influence never completely waned it can still be seen throughout the following three centuries in both art, furniture, interior design and architecture.

A set of Bols KLM Delft Blue miniature houses, numbers 1 - 84

These KLM Delft Blue Miniature Houses are in the style of the traditional old Dutch houses situated along the canals in Amsterdam and other towns in Holland. These houses are presented to Business Class passengers on KLM flights. They are filled with the famous Dutch young jenever, distilled by Bols Distilleries. There are currently 99 Delft blue houses in the collection.

Tales of a Bear and a Nurse

'Father Bear Comes home' by Else Holmelund Minarik, illustrated by Maurice Sendak, with inscription and illustration by Sendak to Rosaleen Price, dated 1967. 

Rosaleen Price was a nurse who cared for Sendak during his visit to the North East.

Dancing Lladro

Lot 59. A large Lladró group, 'Dancing Herons' sculpture, number 1319
A white porcelain sculpture of two herons standing on blue and green enamelled pond reeds. 
(Currently still being sold on the Lladró official website for £2,520.00)

Founded by three brothers Juán, José and Vicente Lladró, in 1953 in the village of Almàssera. The Lladró company is a Spanish firm based in Tavernes Blanques, Valencia. The company produces ceramic figurines and started with items such as vases and jugs.
In 1956 the sculptures that Lladró are most famous for began production. The small workshop that the brothers worked from eventually expanded several times due to the growing enthusiasm for the items they were producing. The Lladró brothers eventually moved their business to Tavernes Blanques in 1958.

The term 'Cold-painted' bronze is given in reference to pieces that are cast in Vienna and decorated in layers with dust paint. The colour remained unfired, hence the term ‘cold painted’.
Bergmann (Franz Xaver Bergmann 1861-1936) owned the Viennese foundry that produced ‘cold painted’ bronze Oriental, erotic and animal figures. Bergmann was known for his colourful work that always featured a lot of intricate detail. Disguising his identity Bergmann would use ‘Nam-Greb’ to mark some of his more erotic work. The Great Depression led to the closure of the Bergmann foundry in 1930. Robert Bergmann, son of Franz, opened and operated the foundry years later, until his death in 1954.
