Artwork for auction 11th December

Artist Statement – Aleksander Kosmala

I am a painter and computer graphic artist. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland, in 1979.

Since 1986 I have lived and worked in Denmark.

I paint, draw and create computer graphics.

Member of the art groups CIRRUS, Kunstudstilling LF and BKF.

The horizonless painting

My paintings have changed. Previously, these took place on a stage in a three-dimensional space. Something I built up with the help of the central perspective.

Today, the scene in my paintings is a two-dimensional, perspective-less scene:

People and objects appear here on an abstract, often colourful planar geometric background

A world without a horizon. A world liberated from the central perspective. Modern man appears here in period clothing, living in a timeless, abstract space.

Perhaps they live in a world without the ability to orientate themselves, to themselves and to each other?

As a contrast to humans, I also paint objects such as robots, drones and other humans. robots, drones and other man-made machines.

A world where Alternative Intelligence is on the rise.

Is it beneficial or detrimental?

I don’t give answers, I ask questions.
