Hand Printed British Textile Design from the 1950s

This stunning geometric design featured in Shirley Craven's first collection following her graduation. 

 Venetian Stripe was shown in 1959.

In 1960 Shirley joined Hull Traders as Colour and Design Consultant and within two years was the company's Chief Designer.  The use of bold colour was evident from her earliest works and here it is used to bold effect, controlled within a harmonious palette.
