This fascinating earthenware jug dates from the 19th century, black transfer print, 'Grand Protestant Association', 18.5cm H  Estimate £100-£150.  For auction Wednesday 2nd October.

The Protestant fraternal order based in Northern Ireland is commonly known as the Orange Order founded by Ulster Protestants in County Armagh in 1795 during a time of Protestant and Catholic Conflict.

Since the 1690s commemorations have been held throughout Ireland celebrating key dates such as the Siege of Derry, Battle of Aughrim and Battle of the Boyne as seen on this jug.
