Orazio Andreoni (1840-1895) was a 19th century Italian sculptor based in Rome.  His works in marble were of subjects after the antique as well as his own compositions of often historical or romantic works.  He delighted in the richness of detail as can be seen here in the exquisite carving on the bonnet and clothing.  He exhibited as far away as Glasgow, 1888, Berlin, 1892 and was active for a time in America, thus enhancing his international reputation.  Indeed perhaps Andreoni's greatest contribution was his large workshop in Rome where a generation of sculptors received their training.
