Lot 15. A Tibetan 'Stele', estimate £25 - £45, Antiques and Interiors Sale 2nd October 2019

Steles have been the major medium of stone inscription in the Far East since 618 and are in general rectangular stone tablets upon which characters are carved.  Often erected at temples and tombs these inscriptions contain biographical and historical information.  There are more than 1000,000 surviving stone inscriptions, many now undecipherable but non the less of historical interest.
